[br]Far too many rules. I think if someone is willing to take time out to organise a race then we should all be grateful. I for one dont have the time to get involved but without guys like Steve taking the time then there would be no racing. If the organiser wants it to be first come first served then whats the problem with that.

Well done Steve for the effort.

Well done to Stevie for making another race available.
Wish you had checked with me about the date. I'll be on holiday, so can't make it.

Just another manic Bundy.

Oooft,
there are no races with organisers
there are no races without commissaires
there are no races without racers
Cycling is my passion, and i'm glad to share it with so many committed people.

There are more people wanting to race than races which is a shame. But even a 4th cat event isn't a fun run. There are loads of quality club training nights that offer proper race simulation and should indicate once you have attained a requisite level. Perhaps we need to encourage more rider self-selection?

The more I thought about it the more I was drawn to the conclusion that in fact I was giving you a heads up.

That may have been your intention but from an independent viewpoint you came across as an annoying pedant. If that wasn't your intention perhaps a simple apology would sort it all out.

If as Chief Comm I noticed your event was open to 2/3/4 Cats and there were too many 2nds or 4ths or some other permutation I might ask you how this was arrived at as it could have an effect on the sporting outcome of the event. Any issues I would include in my report to the Governing Body, SC in this case.

And we wonder why more people aren't volunteering to organise races?

Steven,

It is not my intent to treat you or anybody else as a 'little boy'. Have a look at all of your postings and then ask yourself who the little boy is? I'm not sure what you mean by 'trying to make it hard' for you. Perhaps you can offer an explanation? The more I thought about it the more I was drawn to the conclusion that in fact I was giving you a heads up. I spent last Saturday training new commissaires and bringing some old hands up to speed on current practice - running a track course in a couple of weeks and I'd be delighted to see you or any other member of your club/team on it, contact SC if interested. Part of this involved looking at the various bits of paper we need or might need to see/complete at an event. This includes the permit that allows the race to to ahead. The permit has various bits of information on it - date and time of race, race distance and the rider categories that the event is open to etc. This allows the Commissaires to make sure no chancing Elite or 1st Cats or at the other end youths try to get a ride.

[br]No, just asking a question. Might not be racing these days but my club is organising a race - Anderside Classic - and I'll be giving up my day to help out - incidentally that's one day of about 50 a year that I give up to ensure events are run safely and fairly so riders can enjoy themselves, not to mention all the other stuff I do/have done/will continue to do in the sport that you know nothing about. Welcome to the other side mate.

i did not question you what you did or dont do to help out .just asked why you are trying to make it hard .you did not give me an answer to that .and treating me like a little boy is not going to answer a question.............mate!oh and did i not stand at the side of the road with my wee flag and sort the lights on the road for you last year .please do not cast up or treat me like a d1ck

doc Posted - 23 Apr 2012 : 13:40:48
This event is classified as open to 2/3/4 cats. How are you going to ensure that there is a spread of ability cats? Otherwise it could be all cat 2/3 or 4.
