If you do not race against the top level week in week out then you have very little chance of being able to stay with them round the Galston. But if the race was on the Falkirk circuits then you would have had a better chance. That course is tough and the boys that were in the top 15 or so would have had a hard "race", the rest of the field would just have had a hard day because of the course. If you want to compete against the top boys you will need to go south and race with them on a regular basis just to improve your horizons.Its not that the riders up here are less talented its just that there are not enough of them. |

But people got dropped due to the speed not the distance in the majority of cases.
If you want to see bigger bunches maybe look at the course. Anyway race, sportive or somewhere in between it was a good way of spending a Sunday.
Agreed, as one who was dropped early on through a mechanical, speed was most definitely the deciding factor. If i'd not had a mechanical i dont mind admitting that i would probably not have lasted the full duration "at that speed" anyway. But it is still a useful excercise to go and race these guys to put your own fitness into perspective. One look at the quality of the DNF's should speak volumes.
Not sure making the course easier would lead to a bigger bunch finish though, remember the top guys were going that speed because the course was hard! if it was easier then it would be even faster, scary i know....... |

Macbob of course you are right, and I hope you rebuke any mention of Cavendish, Wiggins, Thomas or indeed almost anyone else in the entire pro peloton with the passion you have shown here. This is after all a forum to air views and discuss only Scottish cycling in a fxxxing friendly environment, chapeau my man. Perhaps in future results should be posted with riders of nationalities other than Scottish omitted?
Apologies GAZ, brilliant event well done to you, your team and everyone else involved. It was wonderful to see that level of racing brought to Scotland while still keeping it open to those of us who are not quite elite, bravo.
Just one small query, will full result be made available? Just to see how us meer mortals compare.

Well we all know that Ian, but for christ sake,there's only so much a man can take  .
His bro-mance with Evan is understandable, a mean look at the legs oan him phooarr  , but love of the english oan here is just too much for me personally, my daily fix of the Braveheart postings and SCOTTISH racing results and subseqent discussions is being ruined.

Whatever your opinion of Ned Kelly he is entitled to show his views and support without your pseudo racist reply. Cycling is cycling who cares if riders are English, Scottish or Ghanaian, I hardly think putting a smiley next to English riders name in the Braveheart forum merits that sort of response. It is quite frankly an embarrassment.

Please remember y've posted oan the BRAVEHEART forum which in case y,ve forgot is primarily to promote young SCOTTISH riders and provide news about the SCOTTISH scene.
