It was with sadness I read in my local newspaper that ex Glasgow
Nightingale track rider Jim Thomson had passed away on 12/02/19
at his home in Canada aged 96 years. Jim was co-founder with Hugh
Loughrey, Alistair Macgillvary and Alasdair Forbes when they started
the Cumbernauld Cycling Club. To give his club members discounts
on cycle material Jim opened a cycle shop in Kirkintiloch which he
ran for a few years until going over to stay with his Daughter in
Canada. He always wrote a weekly column in the local newspaper keeping
we clubfolk informed regards the clubs activities.Jim's other interest
was the Cumbernauld Pipe Band which I believe he was the secretary.
