Very brief results, reports & photos tomorrow, other prizes will be in post at the end of the month. Tired, it's wine o'clock now, hope everybody enjoyed it, the people of Balfron and the surrounding area came out to watch, supplied some marshalls, they all did a top job. Thanks to all members of other clubs who came out to help, it's all very much appreciated, I'll be in touch with all those who drove shortly, we've not forgotten about you, just didn't have time to get everything sorted, a mad day, but well worth it I think. Hope any victims of the crash are ok, wish them our best please.

Womens.
1. Jane Barr (Velocity44Stirling)
2. Gemma Neill (Sandy Wallace Cycles)
3. Claire MacAulay (Sandy Wallace Cycles)

Mens.
1. Evan Oliphant (Endura Racing)
2. Gary Hand (Endura/Pedalpower development team)
3. Ross Creber (Cycle Premier/Metaltek)

Great event and support. Enjoyed it once it was finished

Hope the guys who crashed are alright.

I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy!

Stuart MacGregor is ok - bit stiff and a few scabs to pick at.

Said the helicopter ride was fun.

Thanks to everyone involved in today's race - great effort by the Vortex crew.

Thats great news Graham. When we heard about the crash then saw the helicopter coming in we unfortunately thought the worst but later informed it was all precautionary for a neck injury.

Get well soon Stuart, will you be fit enough to do your Duathlon next weekend?

That is great news about Stuart - we were all worried about you for a wee while there! A speedy recovery to you tough guy.
Thanks to absolutely all of you out there today, locals, marshalls, hollerers, comms, NEGS, feeders, photo finishers, photographers, first aiders, drivers, wheel changers, sign oners, sign hangers, banner hangers, gazebo inflaters, bike sellers, sunglass vendors, podium kissers, bell ringers (whistle blowers), time keepers, coffee vendors, road sweepers, helicopter pilots, the polis, the bus drivers and oh aye, THE RIDERS.
Was a lot of fun and there was great racing.
The Scottish Champions proved that they are the Scottish Champions.
9, 10 lets do it again.

Well done Barky, Jez, Tom ( thanks for the musette Tom! ) and all the helpers and officials. Great to see so many people at the finish, and great to hear Stu is not so bad as first feared.

Cheers Ian The Happy Snapper

A big well done to all at Vortex and all who were involved in even the smallest way.

It was a brilliant day despite the rain and wind not staying away, I now have a rather wind burnt face.

All your hard work paid off, as everything seemed to go smoothly...looking forward to next year already

It was great to see a 30+ field for the ladies race. A number of them racing in a bunch for the first time, so well done to all of them.

Special mention to Gemma Neill, the only one to puncture in the ladies race, chased back to the group and took the silver medal.

Lost count of how many punctures in the men's race.

Tough grinding course over that distance.

Hi, I'm on the Community Council in Balfron and worked with the guys from Vortex to try to create a bit of a spectacle/event for the day. The feedback from all of us in the village is that we really enjoyed playing our part and had a great day and saw some brilliant racing. Well done to you all for taking part, best wishes to the injured riders and congratulations to the winners and the runners up. To all the riders that have been spotted pre-riding the course over the past couple of weeks - you've been spotted and have helped in creating profile and awareness for the event. I was on Dunmore Street yesterday with my family banging pans, blowing whistles and hopefully providing some encouragement for tired legs. Sorry for the one single car that we couldn't shift from the route until mid-way through the men's race. Remnants from a very late party the night before...
Thanks for coming, maybe see you on the roads round our way again, ride safe and enjoy the rest of the season.

Daryn, really appreciate all the help you've given us, couldn't have done it without the support of the community council & the people of Balfron, I'm sure we'll be back for more.

Womens report up on our website now, working on men's, need more info on who was in the initial break and what was going on in there, was running about all over the place and didn't get much chance to see what was happening.

The pan-banging and whistle blowing was excellent, adding to one of the very best cycling events I have ever participated in. The atmosphere in the town was brilliant, hugely welcoming. Thank you for braving the elements and showing such support.

Barky,

Got my 10 cents on what happened in the break to e-mail to you but can't seem to send it through the forum. What e-mail address can I send it to?

Cheers

Which cyclelane rider was in the leading break until they punctured, from where riders were later, it looked like either Pedro or big Gordon?

They should be going up on the vortex site as soon as my brother (who updates the website) can do it, they potentially have a power cut tonight where they live, so hopefully by the morning. I wrote the report today, the pdf should be linked from the website. If you're realy desperate, send an email to vortex.rt@googlemail.com & I can send you a copy.
