2013 was the first year of this race in memory of Sharon who died last year after a sudden illness.
Sharon was not a racing nor a club cyclist but in her younger days used to commute from Kirkintilloch to the Gorbals on her 15 speed rigid Raleigh mountain bike which is pretty impressive in my book, given the weight of that old bike
Latterly in her life enjoyed the odd excursion on the NCN trails in the Trossachs which would usually end in her telling me to piss off when trying to explain to her how to use the gears properly.
The picture doesn't do the trophy justice. It is a lovely piece of work made by Kenny Wilson, aka the sprocket man.
Hopefully 2013 will be the first of many editions of the race.
