Huge well done to John for clocking a 19.

Any rider that does that in Scotland should be knighted

I am not 100% on that one Neil.
Certainly think it's a very short list if any.

need to research this one as II'm sure Atkinson went below 50min.

Atkinson did a 49 45 on the now unused Inchture Dundee 25 many years ago. O'Bree may have set the Scottish record on that course or a variant of it many many years ago!

Unreal ride from John this morning - KUDOS! The 25 champs should be very hotly contested indeed

This morning mere mortals went about 45s slower than their best this season. If the event had been on Westferry, John could have done an 18 or very close.

It's in the genes!

FWIW I was within a handful of seconds of my time from last w/e at Fullarton, won of course by Chris Smart in his excellent 19:50. A 19:59 today... Words fail me for the second week in a row.

David Gibson did a 49 on this course.

Open and Invitational 25 on the Symington / A78 25 course away back brought in at least one sub-50 by Obree (a 48 IIRC) but I don't recall if 2nd was (1) a 49 or (2) Scottish: Think it was Richard Prebble, so no to (2), and possibly only a 50. Obree's ride was mad that day.

Have to add, when those quick times where done it wasn't in state of the art tt
equipment we have at our disposal today plus aerodynamic
wasn't as efficient.

Makes you wonder what that would equate to in modern era we live in today.

On the day he did his 49 a large number of others did exceptional times, with Andrea Pogson setting a very longstanding women's record (mid-55 I think), and I even managed a 53 on a Look road bike with tribars. David Gibson was flaked out on his back at the side of the DC groaning not far after the finish as I rolled past shortly after.

Have updated the original post with John Archibald's ride from the weekend. He now overtakes Graeme Obree.

The rules - single fastest ride by each rider on a Scottish course.

Someone has Mark listed as a 19.59 in Fife Champs but the only sub 20 on Fife course was Jason with a 19.32 in Aug 2007.

Mhairi

is this under threat now Mhairi?

It is a slightly different course that we use now to the one that was used when Jason did his 19.32 there, but I think there is a good chance that the current course record could go.

Really good to see the updated list. Thanks Gordon.

I noticed that your updated list at the beginning of the post had Iain Grant's time is missing.

Hi Gordon
He was on your list on page 2 of the post but obviously not put on your edited list at the start of the post when you updated it.

He did a 19.50 on 13.6.12 at Inverclyde 10 at Westferry.
