Travels with the bike

My last month would be a dream for somebody that enjoys travelling but has turned out to be a nightmare for somebody who wants to race, train and recover. Something has had to go and that is certainly recovery. The Matrix Fitness Tour Series is a wonderful event but involved many hours on the road, coupled with 40 min city centre races. Fun and atmospheric they may have been but I have come out of the Series with the ability to ride fast for 40 mins and a glass trophy from my podium in Edinburgh but in need of some quality endurance training. In between the Tour Series races, I have managed to fit in the National Masters Road Race championship, where I won category C and have the stripey jersey, a race in Gifford with the men, where I sprinted into the top 20 and an exciting evening of racing at the London Nocturne. It is now countdown to Glasgow 2014 and I am proud to be representing Scotland. The hard training starts again tomorrow after today's rest day. I am living out of a suitcase at the moment, still travelling between friend's houses so I can get to races as cheaply as possible so tomorrow's roads are in Rutland, Leics. New roads always make training more enjoyable but I don't think tomorrow's training is supposed to be enjoyed. No pain, no gain!
