In with the Big Boys!

Just back from the Braveheart Dinner last night; first time attending and it was excellent. I wonder if the buyer of the two donkeys is regretting it this morning...? Seriously, really amazed at how generous people can be and it was a great night. Thanks to all the organisers. Quick update from me on the Scottish Champs. On the advice from coaches I decided to opt for racing with the senior guys this year in the Open Sprint and the Open Kierin. Going in to the event I was hoping to simply gain experience from racing with the older guys and learning from them. My aim was to achieve a top 8 in both if possible. The Kierin on the Friday night was challenging but great fun. I managed to win my semi-final heat which put me in to the final where I came fourth. The Open Sprint went well but was unhappy as I narrowly missed breaking the 11 second barrier. There was a bit of confusion about the draws for Round 1, resulting in me racing another two races before making my way to the quarters where I was up against JP. However, it was a great experience and finished a good 6th overall. On the last day was the Junior Sprint; again had the 200 TT at the start. This time I smashed my PB and broke the 11 second barrier with a 10.8 . Happy Days ... Walked away with the gold after some excellent racing in the final with Lewis Stewart, a first year Youth A, who rode really well. Overall a good weekend's racing. Hopefully will get some good winter's training in and get to race in one or two of the Revolution Series in the coming months. Until the next time..
