Just
as soon as the 2015 season has ended my 2016 season will start with
various track races over the winter.
Thought id give a quick
update about what I've been up to and what 2015/2016 season holds.
Ill keep it short and sweet.
I ended the 2015 season at the
British track championships, where I won the scratch race and team
pursuit and came 2nd in the points race. i was quite pleased with
this well rounded performance and hopefully it is a taste of things
to come this winter.
Before the British track champs i was on
the road competing in the Tour De L'Avenir for Great Britain, the
race commonly known as the race of the future and the under 23 Tour
de France. it was going to be a tough ask, but i was looking forward
to this opportunity and helping the lads get some results ( i still
do the donkey work, but that's all good, just now im just loving
being on the road and learning).
The first 3 days were rolling
terrain, no mountains yet, I didn't feel out of place at all and even
made the front group of about 35 riders when the race split in the
crosswinds, with riders such as Fernando Gaviria (Etixx - Quickstep)
Marc Soller (Movistar) and Alex Peters (SKY). Unfortunately the race
came back together but this was a good sign of my form.
The
4th day i was brought down in a crash early on and never got back on,
so i had to ride 135km's with 5 others ( a tough day out but i
survived). The fifth day was not an ideal day for me, about half way
through the stage my front wheel seized up and with no neutral l
service or team car behind our group i was forced to abandon. Not the
best way to finish as physically i felt fine and didn't have the
opportunity to give 100%.
So that's what I've been up to. All
the best Mark
